Ahmed Sayed joined joined to Prof. Wolfgang’s group as a postdoctoral fellow to address various epigenetic concerns. He is interested in studying the mechanistic details of some crucial proteins for DNA methylation maintenance process. Ahmed hopes to add new insight into this tightly regulated epigenetic event.
At the beginning of his career, Ahmed worked as a demonstrator and assistant lecturer for 5 years at the Chemistry Department - Faculty of Science - Assiut University in Egypt. He was fascinated by protein science and the regulatory roles of proteins in the manipulation of different biological processes. Then, Ahmed joined the structural biology laboratory at the National University of Singapore one of the most prestigious universities in the world to obtain his Ph.D. degree. During his Ph.D. study, Ahmed learned different biochemical and biophysical approaches for protein characterization. After graduation, he returned to Assiut University in Egypt to perform his duties and work as a lecturer of biochemistry. Also, he supervised several Ph.D. and MSc students for 3 years. Then, Ahmed joined Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany as a postdoctoral fellow. In Germany, he extended his knowledge in protein science and handled membrane protein expression and purification.
