Welcome to the lab Sumaiya Hasnain

25 January, 2023

Sumaiya was born and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Then she went back to India for higher education. She has enjoyed deep diving into topics revolving around genomics, gene regulation, signaling pathways and also developmental and translation studies. Sumaiya's work during her masters revolved around studying the WNT signaling pathway and peptide driven regulation of the pathway to treat triple negative breast cancer. This had further encouraged her to take up a PhD cell and molecular biology.

Sumaya is very excited about the research work of the Laboratory of Chromatin Biochemistry. She mostly learned about it by reading publications, and now that she's gotten to know everyone, she finds it amazing how well everyone works with each other.
