Welcome to the lab Liubov Gapa

13 December, 2020

After a short internship in the summer of 2020 Liubov joined the lab fully in September 2020 as a PhD student, soon after the lab's restart from COVID19 hibernation. After completing her MSc on plant genomics, joining CBC was quite a big shift in her interests: "I felt saturated with learning computational tools, and frustrated with not being able to work on the actual biological problems. After all, I am biologist, not a developer". Reading dusty Lysenko's experimental studies on epigenetic inheritance in wheat brought her attention to the chromatin filed, and the biological questions started to emerge on the horizon. CBC team looked the right people to go to, should Lysenko's legacy be re-addressed in a modern-science way. Liubov hopes to combine her bioinformatics background with the expertise of the "hardcore biochemists" from the lab to solve one of the trending questions in the field - structure-function puzzle in chromatin organization.
